The Challenge

Global-E's enterprise customers demanded AI-powered agents to automate complex cross-border commerce workflows. But giving those agents access to sensitive customer, transaction, and compliance data presented significant challenges. The company needed AI agents to access the precise data required for their tasks while maintaining strict security boundaries and regulatory compliance.

Traditional data-access approaches proved insufficient. Full database access was too permissive and created compliance risks. Hardcoded data pipelines were inflexible and difficult to maintain. Global-E needed a solution that could dynamically control which agents access which data, enforce fine-grained permissions, and maintain an audit trail of every agent interaction with sensitive information.

Their customers operate in highly regulated markets with strict data-residency and privacy requirements. The solution had to support on-premises deployment, integrate cleanly with existing enterprise infrastructure, and provide native role-based access control across multiple vendor systems.
